Hambrooks have kindly sponsored our show schedules for the third year running and their garden designer Matt Morris brought a plant stall to the event and dispensed all sorts of horticultural advice. Barbara Rogers brought her beading stall for some shopping, as did Lou P with her lovely glasswork.
The raffle was well supported and we had some terrific prizes, so lots of people went home happy with prizes fromSilversprings, Holly Hill Leisure Centre,St Margarets Nursery, Abbey Croft Nursery, The Elm Tree, Plaice on the Green, The Strawberry Field Tavern, Garsons, Joules and Peterkins.
Thank you to everyone who donated a prize.
Our judges had a really tough job this year, particularly in cookery and preserves. Judges, Tina Kennedy and Owen Phelps-Cousins from Waitrose, tasted every single item baked, jammed and pickled by our entrants and crowned a delicious pot of honey best in show.
We had some serious talent in handicrafts and Mrs Clifford was delighted to see such a great range of handicrafts to judge. Best in show in this category was a beautiful metal box with a hinged lid.
Karla Bell from La Petite Belle, was impressed by the range of classes available to enter and judged the floral exhibits. She awarded the overall prize to a stunning design entered into the 'Making the most of a few' class.
The photography classes had a lot of diverse entries featuring scenes from home and abroad with the overall winner, as judged by Miss Mitchell, being a remarkable picture of a hanging birds nest.
Robin Fowle kindly judged our horticultural entries and also displayed a few of his own magnificent dahlias.
Our judges give their time and expertise freely to the show and we thank them for their wonderful contribution to this community event and in keeping the show going.
